Newpong Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Jae-yong) Designated as an 'Outstanding Corporate R&D Center for the Second Half of 2024'
Deep Sono Lab of Newpong Co., Ltd. was designated as an 'Outstanding Corporate R&D Center for the Second Half of 2024' and received a certificate and a recognition plaque on December 20.
The Outstanding Corporate R&D Center Designation Program, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Yoo Sang-im, hereafter referred to as MSIT), aims to drive the qualitative growth of corporate-affiliated research centers and foster exemplary models that other research centers can emulate. Since its implementation in 2017, the program has been recognizing and supporting research centers with exceptional R&D capabilities. The designation is valid for three years, offering various benefits such as preference in national R&D projects, recommendations for military service exemptions, and government awards.
The selection process is conducted in three stages by a panel of experts. For the second half of 2024, 30 corporate research centers were designated, including 21 in the manufacturing sector and 9 in the service sector, for their leadership in core technology development and commercialization.
Through this designation, Newpong has demonstrated its outstanding R&D capabilities and the significant potential of its research center. The company is expected to continue establishing itself as a leading R&D-driven enterprise through ongoing innovation.
Kwangjae Lee, head of Deep Sono Lab which is Newpong's research center, remarked that the designation as an Outstanding Corporate R&D Center is the result of collective efforts by all members of the research center. He expressed joy that their dedication to deeply studying and refining ultrasound technology, with the goal of benefiting both patients and medical professionals in real-world settings and contributing to better healthcare environments, has been externally recognized.
He further shared that the research center plans to continue fostering innovation and talent development to help Newpong become a global leader in the field of ultrasound medical devices through the globalization of advanced, human-centered technologies and products.
Additionally, he emphasized Newpong's vision of contributing to human health through medical technology innovation and requested continued support for their journey.

El Programa de Designación de institutos de investigación corporativos excelentes, organizado por el Ministerio de Información y Comunicación de Ciencia y Tecnología (Ministro Yoo Sang-im, en adelante MICT), apoya a institutos de investigación con excelentes capacidades de R&D. Este programa comenzó en 2017. Una vez certificado de MICT, se mantendrá durante tres años y recibirá beneficios como trato preferencial para proyectos nacionales de R&D, recomendación para empresas exentas del servicio militar y premios gubernamentales.
